From Wicked to Winnie the Witch, stories that feature magical people who often have a broomstick in hand have been entertaining us for many years.

In fact, the first written example of a fictional witch came way before the ones we imagine with a pointy hat and green face paint. Circe and Hecate, in Greek mythology, are noted as being two very early, and possibly the first, witches in literature. Circe was a sorceress who features in The Odyssey and turned men into pigs. Hecate was the goddess of magic who is also mentioned in Shakespeare鈥檚 Macbeth.

麻豆社 Bitesize challenges you to take this quiz all about fictional witches and don鈥檛 worry - you won鈥檛 be turned into a pig if you get a question wrong!
