'English-ness' & Birmingham

In the run up to St George's Day, we're looking at what 'English-ness' means to you. Can you say it all in one photo of Birmingham?

By celebrating St George's Day we celebrate all things English. But what does that mean in modern day Britain and what does it mean to people in Birmingham?

In the run up to St George's Day we'd like you to send us your photographs summing up what 'English-ness' in Birmingham means to you.

There is a stereotypical image when St George's Day is mentioned that springs to mind – that of chocolate box cottages and fields of barley in summer. This may be the case for some – but for many the true image is of something totally different - a bit more gritty and 'real'.

Your image of Birmingham

Your image summing up Birmingham may be a beautiful historic building, but it could just as easily be a tower-block.

Your picture may be an urban fox in your garden, or it might be the traffic passing by your window.

Whatever your image of Birmingham is, we'd like you to send in a photograph to show us.

Send us one photo and a short description of what the scene means to you and it will then be added to a gallery on our website.

Some (though not all) of the photos will be shown on Â鶹Éç Midlands Today on St. George's Day.
