Preparing for War booklet

This is from about 18 months before the Second World War started telling people what to do in the event of war. It told you how to protect yourself from gas, bombs, and how to create a refuge room. It also tells you what to do if you are injured in a bomb blast. I found this among my mother's papers which I brought up from our family home in Fulham a couple of years ago. What struck me when I realised what it was, was how frightening it must have been to have received it. It must have been scary in light of the fact the Government was trying to convince everyone there wouldn't be a war. (B Alford)
