This is a human shaped burial object that accompanied a Chachapoyan mummy on its journey to the afterlife. Five or six inches tall, it is one of several objects sent back by W T Taylor, a local man, while on his worldwide travels working on hydroelectric schemes at the turn of the 20th century. Very few Chachapoyan mummies and their associated objects are found outside Peru. Research on the Towneley mummy has provided evidence of trade between South and Central America.
