Pauline bought this beaded lace bobbin at the Exeter Lace Day in 1994 to commemorate he birth of her first grandchild. It was painted by a lady from Dartmoor and includes the name and date of birth of the child and has a teddy bar on the spangle - the glass element a the bottom which weighs the bobbin down during the lace making. Pauline has an extensive collection of commemorative bobbins, all of which are in regular use and depict a modern lacemaker's life.
