Shintomiza Shin Kyogen - Flower Kabuki Show of 1891. Programme 1 - Gosho Moy? Hagi Fuyo : Aoba: Torimuratsu mono aka the Ferry Boat at Torimura. 2 - Hanafubuki Iwakura S?gen aka Hanafubuki. 3 - Atago tachi Shibaura hakkei - The Eight Views of Atago from Shibaura Mansion (song). There was also a ??k?j? involving ????? I Ichikawa Sadanji I (right) and ???? Ichikawa Yonez? or Yonej?r? 4.5 (left) which may have taken place after the intermission. Stars of the show were Onoe Kikugor? V (Zagashira, the head of the troupe and lead actor), Nakamura Fukusuke IV, Onoe Fujaku VII, Ichikawa Sadanji I, and Nakamura Hakugoro. The performance run, only 23 years after the Meiji Restoration and 38 years after Commodore Perry arrived in Japan, was at a time when changes that were to take place in the Kabuki world as a result of the end of Japan's isolation were to herald a new 'modern' direction for playwrights, plays and performance that formed the foundation of centemporary Kabuki
