This is a cow bone from the POW camp at Knockaloe on the Isle of Man. During the First World War Germans were held prisoner at Knockaloe. They used to make things to sell or trade in exchange for money or goods like cigarettes.
One side of the bone is carved with the Three Legs of Man ( symbol of the Isle of Man ) the words ' Isle of Man' and the dates 1914-1917.
This bone was carved by one of these prisoners and sold to Corrin and Shellan's Great,Great Grandad, who was a guard at the camp.
