During the Two World Wars in Britain all sorts of essentials foods were rationed, including clothing, petrol and many other items.
The Goverment issued The Ration Book to make sure everybody had a fair share of the food that was available.
This book became the key to survival in every houshold in Britain.
Today, because of large chain supermarkets we can now enjoy the luxery of buying everything we need under one roof, including goods from all over the world in what seems like never ending supply.
