Firefighters Helmet

Contributed by Blackthorns CP School

This is the helmet that my Grandad wore when he was a firman. He was a fireman for 30 years and had this helmet for most of those years. The helmet is very heavy and wasn't easy to wear, these days they are much lighter and more comfortable to wear.

This helmet saved my Grandad's life more than once. A church steeple was on fire and he was inside when some of it fell on his head. He was glad he had his helmet on.
