My great grandmother, Alice Hawkins, was a suffragette a 100 years ago and was first arrested outside the Houses of Parliament in February 1907 campaining for the right to vote.Arrested, Alice was taken off to Cannon Row police station, put in the cells, and later charged for 'disorderly conduct and resisting police'.The arrest warrant was issued to Alice when bailed later that night to appear at the Westminster Police Court the following day. At court the next day Alice and 28 other women were given 14 days in Hollway Jail. More of Alice's memorabilia can be viewed on www.alicesuffragette.com.
