Not a lady's frock but the elaborately hand-embroidered uniform of a Victorian horseman, Herbert Girling of Pye Hall who wore it in 1882. It was donated to Southwold Museum by his descendant, Mrs AC Girling. People were very proud of their occupations at that time and their pride was reflected in the many weeks of skilled work which went into the creation of garments like this.
