World War Two Gas Mask

World War Two Gas Mask

This Gas Mask was used from 1939 - 1945 in World War 2. It shows how prepared Britain was for World War 2. Britain had remembered how in WW1 they used lots of gas attacks.
People had to always carry their gas mask in a box . Children learnt how to put them on quickly and even wore them in some lessons to get used to them. This gas mask belonged to my great -grandad and it is a special object in our family.

NEVER EVER try on WW2 gas masks; they look like fun but have an asbestos filter which can be deadly - even breathing once or twice through a gas mask can mean that there is a possibility that asbestos dust can lodge in your lungs forever.
