When coffee, chocolate and tea drinking became popular in the 17th century delicate tableware was required thus giving rise to an explosion of makers of porcelain tea sets and dinner services. Salopian ware was made in Shropshire. It was fine blue and white ware and made in the latter part of the 18th century. This small collection at Sulgrave Manor brings together design and purpose and reminds us of a fashion that stimulated industry.
