Canadian 'Sweetheart' Badge

I have been collecting 'sweetheart' badges like this one for a number of years. They were mementoes given by RAF crews to sweethearts during the Second World War. My favourite though is this RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) one, which was sent to me from Canada. In the 1990s I was excavating a RAF crash site outside Irvinestown in County Fermanagh when I found a bracelet, which had belonged to a Canadian air force man. I was really keen to reunite the bracelet with a member of the airman's family and eventually I got hold of the pilot's sister in Vancouver. I sent her the bracelet and she was so delighted she posted to me this sweetheart badge as a thank you. It is now my favourite sweetheart badge.
