This is the dial of my pine-cased longcase clock. This style of dial with arabic numbers is typical of longcase clocks made between 1800-1820. This dial can be fairly accurately dated at around 1805 as in the arch is a painting of Lord Nelsons ship HMS Victory. The dial was probably commissioned by its first owner to celebrate the battle of Trafalgar in 1805. There is no clockmakers name but the dial was made by Wilkes & Son of Birmingham. I believe this is a great piece of British craftmanship commemorating a great event in British history.
