This powder horn is made from the horn of a large cow or perhaps a bison.There is a cork at the pointed end and it is inscribed thus;
Benjmin kimball His Horn Made at fort Edward July the 31 1759. He has also shown a detailed plan of the fort. I do not know who the owner was.Some of my mother's family went to Pennsylvania in the early 1760's and one Job Johnston fought with Captain Washington in the war of Independence.In a letter dated 1767 he plans a journey home and I can only suppose that he brought the horn with him.It has been in the family ever since.
