Glasgow Student Teachers Diaries

1932 - 33 Glasgow Provincial Committee Student's Diaries for Miss Annie Clelland.

Miss Clelland was a student teacher who studied and taught at various schools in Glasgow. Eastpark School, Shakespeare Street School, John Street Secondary School, Hyndland Secondary School, Hillhead High School and Glasgow Girls High School. These diaries contain all the very neatly written notes from each class she observed or taught. This is one example from the diaries dated 20th September 1933 Eastpark School "No slates are used in this class, all written work being done in jotters or on pieces of paper. To encourage the children, the teacher has bought little jotters for them to do sums at home. On the last page of each, l have copied out the 2,3 and 4 times tables for reference. These jotters have aroused great enthusiasm for home-work"

Among the subjects taught by Miss Clelland were: English, Latin, French, Maths, Geography and Religious Education. Property of Robert Pool
