Randall Burroughes' journal, dating back to 1794, is by a Norfolk farmer who explains in detail the expansive production methods he experimented with on his farm at Burfield Hall in Wymondham.
What singles Burroughes out from other yeoman farmers is that he found time to write a detailed journal of his daily activities on his farm and his scientific and obsessive approach to farming helps us to understand the origins of the agricultural revolution.
The journal is also living proof that a scientific approach to farming wasn't just co-ordinated by wealthy aristocrats.
This unique diary is in the care of the Norfolk Record Office in Norwich.
